How do I conduct a video observation?

When a video observation has been assigned to you, the assignment will populate on your dashboard as a notification that reads “You have a pending observation from [Observee]”.

• To begin the observation, click the "Start to Review Observation" button located on the right of the notification.

• When the observation loads, begin watching the video observation by clicking the Play button. This will start the video as well as the playback timer.
• Click your cursor in the Comments field to stop the playback timer and begin adding your feedback, observations and notes (they will be time-stamped and tied to a particular instance in the video)
• You can also click the “Options” button to open a menu that allows you to assign a Type, Rubric, and/or Tag to categorize your comment (optional).

• Once you've completed adding comments, you can edit and analyze them in the All Comments and Visual Analysis tabs. The All Comments tab allows you to categorize/re-categorize observations, edit comments, and make any changes to your notes by simply clicking the “Edit” button next to the desired comment. Click the “Visual Analysis” tab to view charts and graphs of your categorized comments by distribution of Rubric, Tag, and Type.
• Once you’ve completed adding your comments, you can analyze them by clicking the “Rate & Provide Feedback” button to proceed.
• The “Rate & Provide Feedback” section allows you to provide framework feedback and rate sub-rubrics by clicking on a sub-rubric heading and entering in a summary and rating level. General and additional feedback associated with the observation also can be provided by clicking your cursor in the “Comments” fields.

• When you have finished adding feedback, click the “Preview Report” button to proceed.
• Once you have finished reviewing your observation from the View Report screen, click “Continue Editing” if you wish to return to the observation, click “Save and Return To Dashboard” if you wish to continue the observation at a later time, or click “Send Report” to finalize and submit your observation.
